CBS News to Target Students
Channel One will co-produce 12-minute newscast

CBS News has partnered with Channel One Network to co-produce a daily 12-minute newscast for Channel One's aud of 6 million middle and high school students.
Channel One has produced its own newscast for nearly 20 years, but the partnership with CBS News Prods. will vastly increase the level of coverage and newsgathering resources available to the net.
The Tiffany net will gain exposure for the CBS News brand with the young demo that is extremely elusive for each of the Big Three network news divisions. CBS News personalities will occasionally appear on the newscast, and some Channel One journos may also be featured on CBS News telecasts.
"We view America's youth as a uniquely important audience," said Sean McManus, prexy of CBS News and Sports, in announcing the partnership.
The revamped Channel One newscast will bow in the fall, originating from CBS News headquarters on Gotham's West 57th Street.
