Campaign Manager

Job Summary

The Campaign Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and publicizing CCFC’s advocacy campaigns to stop egregious marketing practices, raise awareness about the harmful effects of marketing to children, and support legislation that limits corporate marketers’ access to children. The Campaign Manager reports to the Executive Director.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop, implement, and publicize campaigns to stop egregious marketing practices, raise awareness about the harmful effects of marketing to children, and support legislation that limits corporate marketers’ access to children;
  • Represent CCFC in a wide range of settings including coalitions, conferences, and meetings with key decision makers;
  • Draft CCFC e-communications including action alerts and petitions;
  • Develop and implement social media strategies for campaigns;
  • Develop offline campaign components for engaged supporters.

Qualifications

  • Significant advocacy experience including developing, implementing and publicizing campaigns;
  • Excellent writing skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Experience using social media for advocacy;
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively;
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and frequent deadlines;
  • A passion for social justice, the well-being of children and a commitment to CCFC’s mission;
  • A commitment to evidence-based advocacy;
  • An advanced degree in child development, psychology, media studies or other relevant field is preferred;
  • Experience conducting media outreach and speaking to reporters on-the-record is preferred;
  • Ability to work hours outside of normal business hours as needed;
  • Ability to work in our Boston office preferred but remote applications will be considered.

Screen Time Assistant

Job Summary

CCFC is looking for a capable, dynamic, committed Assistant to work with our Screen Time Project Manager at our Boston office, for 10-12 hours per week. The Assistant will research and identify potential local and national partner organizations for our screen time program, manage our database of current research, and help implement Screen-Free Week (SFW). SFW is an annual, international celebration, hosted by CCFC, where families, schools, and communities swap digital entertainment for the joys of life beyond the screen. The assistant may have the opportunity to work on other screen time projects and organization-wide campaigns. This is an ideal position for someone with an interest in child development and/or advocacy.

Essential Job Functions

  • Research potential partnerships for our screen time program;
  • Manage our reference database, keeping it up-to-date with current research;
  • Update the Screen-Free Week website and social media accounts;
  • Conduct outreach to Screen-Free Week endorsers and organizers;
  • Assist in the creation of publicity and educational materials and other content for Screen-Free Week and other CCFC projects;
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Proficiency with WordPress and social media, including Facebook and Twitter is preferred;
  • Interest in social activism and/or child development is preferred;
  • Experience with reference management software is a plus;
  • Must be available to work 10-12 hours per week.

Salary and Hours

This is a temporary position from September 1, 2015 through May 31, 2016. The work schedule is 10-12 hours per week and the rate of pay is $14.00 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.

Research and Communications Assistant

Job Summary

CCFC is looking for a capable, dynamic, committed Assistant to work at our Boston office for 10-15 hours per week. The Assistant will track legislation, research critical issues related to commercialism, create advocacy materials, assist in managing our member email list and database, and provide administrative support for our campaigns and our office. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone interested in social activism and advocacy. The working hours are flexible, making this an idea job for a graduate student.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist with administrative tasks;
  • Investigate and report on issues and topics related to CCFC activities, including news and current research;
  • Assist in the creation of advocacy materials, such as fact sheets and other content for CCFC’s website, members, and partners;
  • Maintain an accurate database of CCFC members and friends;
  • Update CCFC’s research library;
  • Regularly update CCFC website with coalition news, events and important marketing developments;
  • Help maintain CCFC’s social media accounts;
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks;
  • Research skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Interest in social activism;
  • Interest in communications/media studies, psychology, and/or child development is preferred;
  • Proficiency with Drupal or HTML and Photoshop is preferred;
  • Availability to work 10-15 hours per week.

Salary and Hours

The work schedule is 10-15 hours per week and the rate of pay is $14.00 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.
